The Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that the No. 1 priority is to bring severely wounded and seriously ill Ukrainians back alive. This was reported by UNN.

Details

As Lubinets noted, 375 Ukrainians verified as prisoners of war and civilian hostages in Russian captivity returned home dead.

In addition, in August 2025, among the repatriated bodies were the remains of five seriously ill Ukrainian defenders from the Istanbul list.

This list was handed over by the Ukrainian delegation. We did everything to bring them back. That is why we insist that the No. 1 priority for return should be severely wounded and seriously ill citizens of Ukraine. But Russia returned to us the bodies of those whom it could still have returned alive
