In the Kyiv region, four people took a man against his will in a garage, beat him and threatened him, demanding $10,000. The participants in the kidnapping have been notified of suspicion. This was reported on Tuesday by the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports.
Under the procedural supervision of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, a group of 4 people who illegally deprived their acquaintance of liberty and extorted USD 10,000 from him was served a notice of suspicion (Part 2 Art. 146, Part 4 Art. 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)
Reportedly, four acquaintances, including the victim's cousin, called the man to a conversation in the car and told him that he owed them 10 thousand USD. They did not allow the man to get out of the car, took his phone, and then drove him to a garage in Kyiv region, promising to let him go only if he paid the money. There, he was beaten and threatened, and then locked in the garage and driven away.
The victim managed to escape, after which he appealed to law enforcement agencies.
Currently, two accomplices in the kidnapping have been detained in custody with bail set at UAH 605,600 and UAH 363,360. The other accomplices were imposed bail in the amount of UAH 363360 and round-the-clock house arrest.
They now face a maximum sentence of seven to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
