The European Commission has awarded the Kyiv region the "Regional Innovation Valley"badge. Kyiv region is one of 151 regions that has received this status. This was announced on the Facebook page by the head of the Kiev RMA Ruslan Kravchenko, reports UNN.
"This is a recognition that our region is promising for implementing advanced technologies and modern economic models in unison with the EU. To implement the latest approaches in the economy, we will also be able to use the funds of European funds," said the head of KRMA.
With the award of this status in the Kiev region , the implementation of a large-scale 5-year RIVCircular project under the Horizon Europe Program begins.
The Department of economics of the Kiev RSA became a member of the consortium that will implement it.
The project is based on the cooperation of 6 regions in different parts of Europe: South – Madrid (Spain), central – Upper France (France), North – Inlandet (Norway), Brandenburg (Germany), East – Kosice (Slovakia) and Kiev region (Ukraine).
Within the framework of the RIVCircular Project, Six interregional innovation competitions with Cascade financing in the field of circular economy will be held.
Key project priorities:
- recycling of construction and demolition waste;
- waste as a recovery and energy resource;
- recycling of electric vehicle batteries;
- circular economy in the textile industry;
- improving digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises in the circular economy.
The project amount is almost 20.9 million euros. Its implementation period is 5 years. The established budget for the Kyiv region is 2.96 million euros, including: grant funds – 1.48 million euros, co – financing – 1.48 million euros.
"The Kyiv region has a powerful scientific and technical potential, which is now being fully revealed. Thanks to this status, the region will attract more investment, talent and innovative projects, contributing to the economic development of not only the region, but also Ukraine as a whole," Ruslan Kravchenko stressed.
