The decision will soon be considered by the Kyiv City Council

In Kyiv, the interagency working group on decolonization and decommunization considered another list of objects that are proposed to be fully or partially dismantled. Among them is a monument to writer Mikhail Bulgakov and a memorial plaque to composer Pyotr Tchaikovsky. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration, according to UNN.

Experts propose to remove six objects: monuments to Mikhail Bulgakov and Dmytro Manuelsky, a symbolic sign "Kyiv is a Hero City" (with a five-pointed star), a memorial stone in honor of Lenin's 100th birthday, memorial plaques to Petro Tchaikovsky and the inscription "During the Nazi occupation (1941-1943), the underground Shevchenkivsky District Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine in Kyiv operated in this building.

The decision to preserve 7 separate objects with the removal of elements of Soviet ideology or Russian symbols was also supported, subject to the correction of texts or compositions.

To date, about half of the memorials related to the history and culture of Russia and the USSR that are to be removed from the city's public space have been removed in the capital. However, this process is slowed down by the lack of reliable information about the owners.

"This significantly complicates decision-making on dismantling or correcting them. There are cases when it is not known for sure who exactly is the balance sheet holder of such an object. That is why we send official requests for information to district state administrations and other government agencies. We need to get specific answers with the names of the balance sheet holders. The lack of accurate information slows down the process," stated Mykhailo Budilov, director of the Kyiv Territorial Control Department.

The developed recommendations will be formalized in a draft decision and submitted to the next session of the Kyiv City Council.
