In Kyiv, police detained a fraudster who, under the guise of a volunteer, defrauded the military, their wives and volunteers of more than half a million hryvnias. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine, UNN reports .

Thus, a 26-year-old Kyiv resident searched social media for announcements of his intention to purchase military equipment and gear and, under the guise of a volunteer, offered his assistance in purchasing goods at a bargain price:
"After that, residents from different cities placed orders with him and made full or partial payments for the 'purchase' on his terms. In return, they received empty parcels in the mail. The man himself quickly changed his phone number and never got in touch again. So far, we have identified 19 victims, including volunteers, military personnel and their wives," said Maryna Nezhur, head of the investigation department of the Dnipro Police Department.
According to preliminary estimates, the offender fraudulently seized almost UAH 600 thousand.
Investigators served him a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - fraud. The maximum penalty is imprisonment for up to three years. Currently, the police have filed a petition with the court to impose a custodial measure of restraint on the defendant.
