A man will be tried in Kharkiv on charges of several crimes at once. This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General, UNN reports.

Details

The accused turned out to be a native of the Crimean city of Yevpatoria, who had problems with the law and had been convicted more than once. After the occupation and annexation of Crimea, the man moved to the Russian city of Belgorod, where he agreed to cooperate with the FSB of the Russian Federation. He received instructions from his handlers to commit crimes on the territory of Ukraine.

In February 2024, he arrived in Kharkiv, where he first committed the murder of a serviceman of the Defense Forces of Ukraine. He shot him in the back near one of the high-rise buildings, which led to the death of the soldier.

The man was also supposed to kill Vyacheslav Zadorenko, the head of the Dergachiv City Military Administration, and Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration. For the death of the latter, the Russians promised him a monetary reward of 50,000 US dollars.

However, the terrorist attacks failed: Zadorenko discovered explosives under his car in time and reported it to law enforcement agencies. Before his arrest, the defendant managed to set fire to two military vehicles in Kharkiv, after which he decided to "lay low".

At the end of October 2024, he was exposed and detained on an electric train.

He is currently charged under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

  • treason;
    • premeditated murder committed for mercenary motives, on order;
      • preparation for premeditated murder, completed attempted premeditated murder;
        • committing sabotage;
          • terrorist act and illegal carrying, storage, acquisition of firearms, explosives, explosive devices and ammunition without the permission provided by law.

            If the court finds him guilty, the accused may face life imprisonment.

            Recall

            In Kharkiv, SBU officers detained an employee of a local publishing house who was recruited by the Russians through Telegram channels. He was supposed to direct enemy air bombs at the city and spy on units of the Defense Forces.
