Serhiy Tsygipa is a journalist, activist and ATO veteran from Nova Kakhovka. Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion, he has been volunteering, participating in rallies in support of Ukraine and covering information about Russia's actions in the south.

He has been in captivity since March 12 last year. According to the Center for Civil Liberties, on February 24, 2022, he created the project "Information Self-Defense of Nova Kakhovka".

For a long time, the whereabouts of Serhiy Tsygipka were unknown. According to human rights activists, in October last year, it became known that the activist was being held in the Simferopol pre-trial detention center. Later it was reported that Tsygip was transferred to a new detention center in Simferopol.

Human rights activists note that Russian state media published staged "interviews" with the abducted Tsyhypka, presenting him as a retired officer of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The journalist's wife, Olena, told the media that she had not had a single opportunity to communicate with her husband during the entire time he was in captivity.
