The US expresses "particular concern" over the imprisonment of French far-right leader Marine Le Pen and the ban on her participating in elections. This was stated by US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce during a briefing, UNN reports.

She recalled US Vice President Dee Vensa's speech on February 14 at the Munich Security Conference on protecting freedom of speech and against excluding people from the political process.

According to her, she does not agree with the definition of Le Pen as far-right, because it "may sound humiliating."
"Excluding people from the political process is of particular concern, given the aggressive and corrupt law against President Trump in the United States," Bruce added.

French far-right leader Marine Le Pen was sentenced to four years in prison, two of which were suspended, and banned from participating in elections for five years with immediate execution of the sentence. She was accused of embezzling public funds.
