A court in Moscow has arrested John F. Kennedy's grandnephew, Conor Kennedy, in absentia on charges of "mercenary activity" on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, UNN reports, citing Russian media.

Details

Conor Kennedy himself said that he decided to join the International Legion because he was deeply affected by what was happening in Ukraine. Kennedy told almost no one that he was going to war. According to him, he revealed his real name to only one person in Ukraine because he did not want to be treated differently there.

"I had no military experience and I was not a great marksman, but I could carry heavy things and learned quickly. I was ready to die there. So they agreed to send me to the northeastern front. … This war, like all the others, is terrible. The people I met were the bravest of anyone I had ever known," the media quote Conor Kennedy as saying.
