In Brody, Lviv region, three minors died in a fatal road accident; police have tracked down the driver suspected of causing the accident while intoxicated and fleeing the scene, the regional police headquarters reported on Monday, writes UNN.

The road traffic accident occurred today, July 20, at around 01:50 on Bohuna Street in the town of Brody, Zolochiv district.
"As law enforcement officers preliminarily established, the 24-year-old driver of a Mercedes lost control, drove off the roadway and hit a tree, then a concrete power pole, after which the vehicle overturned," the statement reads.
As a result of injuries sustained in the accident, three minor female passengers: a 15-year-old and two 16-year-old girls – died at the scene. Two other passengers: a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy – sustained bodily injuries and were taken to the hospital
As the police stated, "the driver of the car left the scene of the accident. Through operational search measures, the police established his whereabouts. It was determined that he was driving a vehicle while intoxicated."
According to the fact, investigators from the Transport Crime Investigation Department of the Lviv Region Police Investigation Department initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 286-1 (Violation of road traffic safety rules or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – imprisonment for a term of seven to twelve years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of seven to ten years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
