Rescuers have been continuing to eliminate the consequences of the pollution of Lake Kyrylivske in Kyiv, caused by a Russian shelling, for the second week already. Over 300 cubic meters of pollutant have been collected from the water surface. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, as conveyed by UNN.
According to rescuers, the approximate thickness of the pollutant film on the lake's surface ranges from 1 to 3 millimeters.
To contain the pollution, 480 meters of sorbent booms and 550 meters of permanent floating booms have been installed on the water body.
"314 cubic meters of pollutant have already been collected from the water surface," the State Emergency Service reported.
The agency noted that cleanup operations will continue until the water body is completely cleaned and the environmental situation stabilizes.
"The work will continue until the consequences of the water body pollution are fully eliminated and the environmental situation stabilizes," the rescuers emphasized.
