In Kyiv today, it is virtually impossible to increase the number of shelters because the number of buildings is limited. This was reported by the deputy head of the KCSA Petro Panteleev during a meeting of the Kyiv TSC, according to a correspondent of UNN.
"Today it is virtually impossible to increase the number of shelters because the number of buildings is limited, and in order to recognize any parking lot as a simple shelter, the consent of the owner, the management company of the residential complex that manages this parking lot, is required," said Panteleev.
He noted that legislative changes are needed.
"It's nonsense that during the war we have to ask someone whether there can be a shelter or not. We appealed to the initiative to ensure that these things are also taken into account in our conversations and discussions, because the number of shelters depends on them," said Panteleev.
He also mentioned the amount of money allocated for major repairs and maintenance of shelters in Kyiv.
"More than 3 billion has been allocated recently for major repairs, construction, and maintenance of shelters... These works are underway," he said.
In February of this year, Petro Panteleev reportedthat over the past two years, 2022-2023, 1,582 shelters and refuges have been repaired in Kyiv. This year, it is planned to repair almost 300 more shelters and build new ones.
