A grenade explosion in Kherson leaves one dead and one injured: police are establishing the circumstances of the incident. This was reported by the National Police, UNN reports.

The incident occurred tonight in the central district of the city. It is currently known that a 48-year-old resident of Kherson threw a grenade at a playground near one of the shops where people were resting. As a result of the explosion, one person was killed and five men were injured of varying severity. The attacker has been detained. Necessary investigative measures are being taken at the scene.
According to Oleksandr Rohozhyn, head of the Kherson District Police Department, around 7:20 p.m., the special line 102 received a report that an explosion had occurred in the Pivdennyi neighborhood at a site near a store.
As a result, citizens were injured and one man died. The investigative team of the Kherson District Police Department, criminal investigation officers, and patrol police immediately arrived at the scene.

At the scene, the police found that an unknown man had entered the area where the five citizens were vacationing. While the vacationers were talking to the stranger, a misunderstanding arose between them. After that, the latter left and returned a few minutes later and threw a grenade.
The explosion killed a 69-year-old pensioner. Five men aged 32 to 41 also sustained injuries of varying severity. The attacker fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The Criminal Investigation Department operatives identified the offender within a few minutes. He was detained at his place of residence.
He was a 48-year-old local resident. The necessary investigative actions are under way.
The crime is preliminarily classified under Part 3 of Article 15, paragraphs 1, 5 of Part 2 of Article 115 “Murder”, Part 1 of Article 263 “Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives” of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
