An outbreak of acute intestinal infection has occurred in Cherkasy after eating sushi at a restaurant. Eight people, including 3 children, were hospitalized, the Cherkasy Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Monday, UNN reported.

"Eight people fell ill due to an outbreak of acute intestinal infection in one of the catering establishments in Cherkasy. The patients attribute their poisoning to the sushi they ate the day before," the institution reported on Facebook.
In order to find out the causes and circumstances of the outbreak, experts are reportedly "conducting an epidemiological investigation with a set of relevant laboratory and instrumental studies."
"Currently, 8 patients, including 3 children, are hospitalized in an infectious diseases hospital and are receiving the necessary medical care. The general condition of the patients is moderate. The preliminary diagnosis is a bacterial intestinal infection," the institution said.
