The 2027 Grandeur sedan features a 17-inch display and a panoramic roof with variable transparency. The vehicle's length has increased to 5,050 mm, and the design has become futuristic.

The flagship Hyundai Grandeur sedan has received a bold update for 2021, Motor1.com reports, according to UNN.

Details

In existence since 1986, the Grandeur is one of the oldest models in Hyundai's lineup. However, it is one of the company's lesser-known products, partly because it is only sold in certain markets. While the first two generations were essentially rebadged Mitsubishi Debonairs, the others were fully developed by Hyundai. Released in 2022, the seventh-generation model is now receiving a mid-cycle update.

Positioned above the Sonata in Hyundai's lineup, the Grandeur further enhances its futuristic look with slimmer, frameless main headlights located beneath a separate horizontal LED bar for daytime running lights. Hyundai claims to have lengthened the hood to achieve a "shark nose" effect, which the publication notes BMW would likely disagree with.

The new Grandeur, which measures 5,050 millimeters in length, is slightly longer than before and features an updated front bumper with a mesh pattern. At the rear, the taillight panel has become even thinner. Completing the exterior changes is a new Artistic Burgundy body color that combines pearlescent and matte surfaces.

While the exterior is more of an evolution, the interior has undergone a revolution, switching to Hyundai's new Pleos infotainment system with a 17-inch touchscreen. It runs on the Android Automotive operating system and features a larger display than the new European Ioniq 3, with which it shares its infotainment technology.

The old model had a separate lower touchscreen (or buttons on lower trims) for climate control, but that is now gone. While the driver still has their own instrument cluster, it is now much smaller and positioned higher on the dashboard, directly in the driver's line of sight. The burgundy exterior color scheme continues into the cabin, covering most surfaces.

While some physical controls remain, the 2027 Grandeur is equipped with electric air vents controlled only via the touchscreen. Additionally, this elegant sedan is the first production Hyundai model to allow passengers to switch the panoramic roof from opaque to transparent mode. The facelift also includes improved ambient lighting and a door card pattern reminiscent of a sofa, matching the seat upholstery.

As the Grandeur sits at the top of the lineup, Hyundai is not skimping on materials. The new Grandeur combines metal accents with natural wood trim, as well as quilted patterns and piping throughout the interior. It remains the company's most luxurious sedan, designed for those who do not want to switch to the similarly sized Genesis G80.

Kia has also not given up on large sedans. While the K5 is the largest in some markets, the K8 and the even larger K9 are sold in others. This indicates that large sedans remain relevant for Korean brands in an automotive world increasingly dominated by crossovers and SUVs, the publication notes.
