During power outages, a generator is a particularly useful device. However, its use requires strict compliance with safety rules, because improper operation can lead to dangerous situations. The State Emergency Service has published simple and important rules for using the generator, writes UNN.
How to use the generator safely?
The generator emits carbon monoxide, so it should only stand outside at least 6 meters from doors and windows.
Protect it from rain and do not turn it on if it is very wet outside.
Do not fill up the generator if the engine is turned off or uncooled.
Turn it off for 30 minutes every 5 hours of operation.
Restrict access to animals and children.
