In Netishyn, Khmelnytsky region, law enforcement officers suspect the head of a UAV manufacturing company of misappropriating budget funds in the amount of UAH 5.7 million allocated for the purchase of drones for the needs of the Armed Forces. This was reported by the Khmelnytsky Regional Prosecutor's Office, UNN reports.
Details
A 45-year-old head of a company engaged in the production of aircraft and related equipment was served a notice of suspicion. Law enforcers believe that he organized an illegal scheme to misappropriate budget funds and suspect him of misappropriation of property by abuse of office, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons, under martial law, on a particularly large scale (Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
It is noted that in January 2024, the company won a tender announced by the Netishyn City Council for the purchase of FPV drones to support the Defense Forces. During January-April 2024, the parties concluded a number of contracts for the purchase of 1,000 FPV drones worth more than UAH 16.4 million.
The defendant decided to make extra money and significantly "cheapened" the production. Instead of the video cameras and video transmitters provided for in the tender and technical documentation, the drones were equipped with devices of lower quality and almost twice as cheap
Thus, the suspect misappropriated more than UAH 5.7 million of budget funds.
