Four officials from regional police units in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr regions, suspected of receiving bribes for covering up "porn offices," have been released from pretrial detention on bail. This was reported to a journalist from UNN by the Prosecutor General's Office, UNN reports.

According to the PGO, the individuals in question are the Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ivano-Frankivsk region, Volodymyr Yatsiuk; the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ternopil region, Andriy Tkachyk; the Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Ivano-Frankivsk region, Serhiy Bezpalko; and the Deputy Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Zhytomyr region, Illya Hulevatyi.

On Wednesday, May 20, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko announced a large-scale operation to purge the National Police system of corruption conducted in Ukraine. A scheme to cover up "porn offices" in three regions was exposed.
The law enforcement officers detained in the case of protecting "porn offices" were served with notices of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (acceptance of an improper benefit). The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from 8 to 12 years, with disqualification from holding certain positions or engaging in certain activities for up to 3 years, and confiscation of property.

On May 21, the court remanded five suspects into custody in the case concerning the corrupt protection of a network of "porn offices."
