The former Russian soldier of the Baltic Fleet who helped the Defense Forces destroy the modern missile ship Serpukhov in the Kaliningrad region is of Ukrainian descent. All of his ancestors come from Ukraine, and thus soldier Goga decided to return to Ukraine and fight the Russian invaders as part of the Freedom of Russia Legion. This was stated by a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine Andriy Yusov during a telethon, UNN reported.

Yes, we are talking about a citizen of the Russian Federation, but of Ukrainian origin. All his ancestors come from Ukraine. And blood is not water, so Goga's fighter decided to return to Ukraine and fight the Russian invaders as part of the Freedom of Russia Legion

- Yusov said.

He noted that Russia is well aware of who was involved in the arson of the Serpukhov missile ship and the theft of classified documents.

"The fighter himself is now a recruit of the Freedom of Russia Legion. He has expressed a desire to continue serving in the Security and Defense Forces and it is his desire to speak at such a press conference to publicly announce that the armed struggle against the Putin regime in Russia itself continues and to tell some details of the complex operation of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the Freedom of Russia Legion and the I Want to Live project," Yusov said.

He added that there are certain details of the transaction that cannot be discussed at this time.

"And the documentation that got into Ukraine's hands is still working and helping," Yusov emphasized.

According to him, the fighter went to Ukraine on his own.

"He tried to demobilize and terminate his contract, but they wouldn't let him go. From the very beginning, he condemned Russian aggression, Russia's war against Ukraine, and in the end he took such a desperate heroic step because he risked his life without exaggeration. The operation was very complicated, because the evacuation took time and setting fire inside the ship was certainly not an easy task. But it all worked out thanks to the professionalism of both the DIU staff and the fighters of the LSR and the I Want to Live project," Yusov summarized.
