Prosecutors proved that in May 2022, in the occupied village of the Snegurovskaya community of the Bashtansky district, the convicted person, together with other Russian servicemen, kidnapped a 52-year-old local resident in order to find out about local men serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The occupiers intimidated the woman, blindfolded her and forced her to walk through the "mined" territory. They doused her with fuel and threatened to set her on fire," the statement said.

According to prosecutors, the victim was imprisoned in the premises of the local police station, which the occupiers turned into an illegal place for holding civilians.

"The court found the commander of the battalion of the 205th separate motorized rifle Cossack brigade of the Russian Armed Forces guilty of cruel treatment of the civilian population and of violating the laws and customs of war, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons," the prosecutor's office said.

He was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
