Spain is completing the evacuation of passengers from the MV Hondius liner due to a hantavirus outbreak. The vessel, with 30 crew members, will subsequently depart for the Netherlands.

Spain will conduct the final evacuation flights on Monday for passengers of the cruise ship MV Hondius, following an outbreak of hantavirus on board. This was reported by Reuters with reference to the Spanish Minister of Health, Mónica García Gómez, according to UNN.

According to her, as of Sunday evening, 94 passengers had already been evacuated from the vessel.

The final two flights are scheduled to depart on Monday afternoon. One aircraft from Australia will evacuate six passengers, while another flight from the Netherlands will pick up 18 people.

The liner will continue its journey to the Netherlands

According to authorities, the evacuation flights will also transport citizens of countries that did not organize their own evacuation operations.

Currently, the MV Hondius is anchored off the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

Following the completion of the passenger evacuation, the vessel is planned to be directed to the Netherlands with approximately 30 crew members on board.
