The European Commission has responded to Russia's statements regarding possible "measures" against the Baltic states, which allegedly allowed the use of their airspace for attacks on Ukraine. They emphasized that any attack on an EU member state would mean an attack on the entire Union. This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Thomas Regnier during a briefing, as reported by UNN.
According to him, the European Commission is aware of media reports and the reaction of individual member states.
"We have seen these reports in the media and, of course, are informed about the situation. We have also seen the reaction of some member states," Regnier noted.
He emphasized that the European Union's position remains unchanged.
"We have clearly stated from this platform: an attack on one of the member states is an attack on the European Union as a whole," the spokesperson emphasized.
Regnier also reminded that the security of member states is one of the EU's key priorities.
"Protecting our member states is a priority. We have relevant initiatives, particularly in the field of countering drones and strengthening air defense," he added.
At the same time, the European Commission noted that it is closely monitoring the development of the situation.
"Currently, we are closely monitoring what is happening," Regnier concluded.
