Entries in the passport of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of a passport booklet are made exclusively in the state language. The Verkhovna Rada adopted the relevant draft resolution No. 13369 as a whole, the VR reported, writes UNN.
Details
The amendments made to the resolution on the provisions on the passport of a citizen of Ukraine and on the passport of a citizen of Ukraine for travel abroad" dated June 26, 1992, No. 2503-XII provide that:
- entries in the passport of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of a passport
booklet are made in the state language;
- the provision on the passport of a citizen of Ukraine
for travel abroad is recognized as having lost its validity.
As noted in the explanatory note, the draft resolution "will allow ensuring the issuance of a citizen's passport in the form of a passport booklet (making entries in it) exclusively in the state language."
Entries in old passport booklets will now be made exclusively in the state language, as before they were duplicated in Russian as well - according to the norms of the repealed Kivalov-Kolesnichenko "language" law
The explanatory note states that as of today, only citizens of Ukraine for whom a court decision has entered into force obliging the State Migration Service of Ukraine to issue and issue a passport of a citizen of Ukraine of the 1994 model are issued and issued passports of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of a passport booklet. At the same time, such passports are issued using blank forms of a citizen's passport in the form of a 1994 model booklet, which are remnants from the last manufactured batch (i.e., which have already been printed). Thus, as indicated, amendments to the resolution of the Verkhovna Rada are possible only regarding the entry of records into the passport of a citizen of Ukraine in the form of a booklet (in the state language).
