Denmark will not send ministers to informal government meetings related to Hungary's EU presidency this month in protest of Prime Minister Viktor Orban's talks with the presidents of Russia and China. This was stated by Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen, UNN reports with reference to Reuters.
"The government wants to clearly distance itself from the way Hungary has treated Ukraine in the first weeks of its presidency," Foreign Minister said in a written response to the Danish Parliament's European Affairs Committee.
For now, Denmark will only send civil servants to cover informal ministerial meetings in Hungary, he added.
Earlier, it was reported that the EU foreign ministers intend to ignore Hungary's event by organizing their own foreign affairs summit in August instead of a trip to Budapest to see Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
A group of MEPs also demanded that Hungary be stripped of its voting rights in the EU after its prime minister traveled to Russia and China.
