Customers ordering new Ferrari cars now will likely have to wait until 2028 for delivery. The company reported that its order book already fully covers the entire year of 2027, indicating consistently high demand for the brand's vehicles. As the publication notes, until recently Ferrari was primarily known as a prestigious manufacturer of some of the most exotic high-performance cars in the world, such as the 812 Superfast and the 488.
Today, the Italian automaker has expanded its lineup, introducing the Purosangue crossover and the fully electric Luce, which has drawn mixed reactions. It is too early to assess how successful this strategy will be in the long term, however, according to Ferrari's report for the second quarter of 2026, the order book is already fully filled for the entire year of 2027
This indicates stable demand, although Ferrari's delivery volume in the second quarter decreased by 3.7% year-on-year to 3,366 cars. At the same time, operating profit (EBIT) rose by 9.5% to 605 million euros (about 697 million US dollars at the current exchange rate). The company attributed this to a more favorable sales mix and higher-than-expected demand for vehicle personalization.
Europe remains the main market for Ferrari
The EMEA region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) accounted for 55% of Ferrari's deliveries in the second quarter of 2026. The Americas accounted for 23%, the rest of the Asia-Pacific region for 16%, and mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan for 6%.
Ferrari reported that the 296 GTS, Roma Spider, SF90 XX, and SF90 XX Spider models are gradually being phased out of production. They are being replaced by the Amalfi, 296 Speciale, 296 Speciale A, and 849 Testarossa — a hybrid successor to the SF90 Stradale with plug-in charging capability.
The automaker did not specify which models secured the order book for 2027, but these changes in the model lineup may partially explain the high demand.
Ferrari's first electric car, the Luce, faced criticism after its premiere in May 2026, mainly due to its design. At the same time, according to the company, the model met its 2026 sales plan in just two months.
Demand for Ferrari continues to grow
Since Ferrari's current order book already fully covers 2027, customers placing orders now will most likely receive cars only in 2028.
Meanwhile, the company continues to update its model lineup. This year, Ferrari plans to introduce five new models. So far, the Amalfi Spider, Luce, and 12Cilindri Manuale have debuted, equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox featuring a manual-by-wire system and a classic open gate shift pattern.
Despite expanding its lineup of electrified models, Ferrari intends to maintain a balanced approach to powertrains. By 2030, the company expects that 40% of its lineup will consist of internal combustion engine vehicles, another 40% hybrids, and 20% electric cars.
This is an updated strategy that replaced the previous plan with a larger share of electric vehicles. It reflects general market changes that have also prompted Lamborghini to abandon the idea of a fully electric fourth model in favor of a hybrid grand tourer.
