"Culture without Barriers": ICIP told about the flagship project for the next year

The Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine is launching a new initiative, Culture Without Barriers, to provide barrier-free cultural services for people with disabilities. The project aims to increase accessibility and awareness of their rights among Ukrainians.

During a meeting of the Barrier-Free Council, acting Minister of Culture and Information Policy Rostyslav Karandieiev said that the ICIP would launch a new flagship project, Culture Without Barriers. This and other plans for 2024 were announced by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, UNN reports .

This project provides barrier-free cultural services and spaces for all Ukrainians with a focus on veterans, people with hearing, visual, motor, mental and intellectual disabilities

- Rostyslav Karandieiev said.

Next year, work will continue on proper communication of the barrier-free topic by the authorities and the media. Regular communication events will be held jointly with other ministries. In addition, an expert council for strategic planning of communications on barrier-free access will be established and relevant recommendations will be developed.

At the meeting, Karandeyev also presented the results of the ICIP's flagship project, the "Ukraine without Barriers" information campaign. It aims to raise awareness of Ukrainians about their rights and opportunities and to introduce systemic accountability of the authorities in their efforts to create a barrier-free environment.

To recap

At the meeting, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal reported on the achievements of the National Strategy for a Barrier-Free Environment until 2023, including new standards for digital services, compensation for employers for employees with disabilities, and updated building codes for accessibility.
