In Kyiv, a scheme for embezzling budget funds for humanitarian demining was exposed, and two individuals were notified of suspicion, Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko announced on Thursday, UNN writes.
Another cynical scheme for embezzling budget funds has been exposed – this time in humanitarian demining. In Kyiv, the director of an enterprise and the head of a sapper group were notified of suspicion. They won tenders for clearing land in the Kherson region through a network of controlled firms. However, these areas were already safe and used by farmers.
Details
According to the Prosecutor General, "to create an illusion of danger, the scheme participants dug up the soil and planted objects resembling ammunition, and in the documents, they indicated false volumes of work performed." Farmers have already provided relevant testimonies, he noted.
The amount of damages in the Kherson region alone is UAH 6.3 million. We are also checking similar facts in the Mykolaiv and Chernihiv regions: there, it concerns over 600 hectares and possible damages of over UAH 53 million, the Prosecutor General indicated.
The actions of the suspects, according to him, are qualified under Part 5 of Article 191 and Part 2 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property. Precautionary measures have already been chosen.
"We continue to work," Kravchenko emphasized.
