The Ministry of Energy is launching a mechanism for direct contracts between electricity producers and consumers, which will allow businesses to purchase electricity directly from local producers. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, reports UNN.
Details
This refers to the implementation of PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) contracts – direct electricity purchase and sale agreements between a producer and a consumer.
Enterprises will be able to provide themselves with the necessary electricity, while producers will have the opportunity to build capacities directly next to production facilities and have a stable energy market,
According to him, this will allow businesses to obtain a predictable electricity price and more stable operations, while allowing the state to reduce the load on the power system.
The Ministry of Energy has already submitted changes to the government for consideration that will allow for the conclusion of such direct contracts. It is also proposed that enterprises covering at least 60% of their consumption through local generation will not be subject to power supply restrictions during capacity shortages.
Our task is to ensure that electricity is produced closer to the consumer in order to reduce the risk of outages due to network damage,
