The Brovary territorial community pays special attention to the safety and support of people with special needs. Thanks to the joint initiative of the UTOH organization, the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine and the NGO "Chas.Diia.Ty", 10 smartwatches were purchased to promptly inform people with hearing impairments about air raid alarms. According to Mayor Ihor Sapozhko, this is only the first stage of the program, which will continue next year, UNN reports.
"A full-scale invasion affects every Ukrainian in one way or another. In addition to the physical danger, the war has a huge psychological impact. People live under the constant threat of shelling, and the disturbing sounds of sirens are constantly heard in our towns and villages. An important aspect of this war is the impact on people with disabilities, in particular, those with hearing impairments. During alarms, it is difficult for them to quickly learn about the danger and react to the situation," said Igor Sapozhko.
He said that on the initiative of the UTOH organization, together with the National Assembly of People with Disabilities of Ukraine and the NGO "Chas.Diia.Ty", 10 smartwatches for people with hearing impairments were purchased in Brovary. These devices will help the vulnerable population to quickly receive information about air raid alerts and respond to them.
"This is only the first stage of this activity, the provision of the necessary devices will continue next year," added Igor Sapozhko.
It should be noted that a total of 52 people with hearing impairments are registered in the Brovary territorial community.

Earlier, UNN reported that the city authorities of Brovary have prepared a program for the next 4 years to improve accessibility and comfortable movement of people with disabilities. In particular, the Brovary community plans to equip special lifts for people with disabilities in apartment buildings. According to Mayor Ihor Sapozhko, this option is optimal for the community's old apartment buildings.
Olena Akopian, an advisor to the mayor of Brovary, told UNN that all public institutions in Brovary are accessible to people with disabilities. All major shopping centers are equipped with ramps, elevators, and hygiene rooms for people with disabilities. Various commercial establishments and organizations have begun to seek advice more often to properly equip or redesign their entrances to make them accessible to people with disabilities.
