British intelligence stated that the advance of Russian occupation forces in Ukraine has slowed down since the beginning of 2025, and the number of attacks has decreased. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain, writes UNN.
Details
The report says that Russia's territorial gains in Ukraine decreased during the first quarter of 2025: in March, Russian troops most likely captured only 143 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, which averages less than 5 square kilometers per day.
The pace of Russia's advance has been slowing down every month since November 2024, when its troops captured more than 700 square kilometers, the report says. Most of the Russian troops' advances in March fell on the central part of the Donetsk region, but Russia did not improve its operational positions. Ukrainian forces also carried out tactical counterattacks, which made it possible to level out some of the Russian gains around Pokrovsk.
The level of ground attacks by the Russian Federation in several directions was reduced during most of March. At the end of the month, they began to grow, but did not lead to an increase in the pace of advance
