Details
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation have completed a pre-trial investigation into two border guards accused of selling information from closed state databases.
The indictments were sent to court. On charges of unauthorized sale of restricted information (pursuant to Article 361-2(2) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the defendants face imprisonment for up to 6 years.
The actions of the border guards were detected in cooperation with the Security Service of Ukraine in early 2024.
Using intermediaries, they received payments from men of military age who intended to go abroad and wanted to check their status in the database.
For each copying of information about one person from closed databases, the border guards charged $150.
One of the border guards will also be tried for unauthorized copying of information that led to its leakage (under Article 362(3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As a result, the women were suspended from duty and transferred to serve in one of the combat centers in Chernihiv region.
