In Balashikha, Moscow region, in the Aviatorov neighborhood, a car exploded on the morning of June 9, according to a local Telegram channel and Shot. A powerful explosion occurred at the moment the driver got into a BMW X3 and began to pull out of the parking lot, as indicated by the Moscow Times, based on video released online. According to Russian Telegram channels, the driver was pulled alive from the burning car, but could not be saved. It is unknown exactly who was behind the wheel, but it is reported that the deceased was 62 years old. Shot reports the use of an IED.
The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation confirmed the car explosion in Balashikha. "The driver of the car received multiple injuries, from which he died at the scene," the IC of the RF stated. A criminal case has been opened regarding the incident.
