Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Georgiy Tykhyi, commented on Russia's question to the UN whether it recognizes the "self-determination" of Donbas by analogy with Greenland, stating that the UN has already given an answer, writes UNN.
Russia asked the UN if it recognizes the "self-determination" of Donbas by analogy with Greenland. Someone needs to tell these idiots that the UN has already responded: in October 2022, 143 members of the UN General Assembly rejected Russia's illegal land grabs. Bingo card: get out of Ukraine
Earlier, at a briefing, UN Secretary-General António Guterres denied the possibility of applying the principle of "self-determination" to Crimea and Donbas.
"There are two principles that are important. One principle is the territorial integrity of states. The other principle is the self-determination of peoples. But the self-determination of peoples has a number of preconditions. So, as it is defined as a number of preconditions, and after a very careful study by our legal affairs department, our position is that the principle of self-determination does not apply in the situations of Crimea and Donbas. So, in this situation, the principle of the territorial integrity of Ukraine prevails," Guterres said.
