Four people involved in the beating of a serviceman of the territorial center for recruitment and social support, which took place on July 4, 2024 in Vorokhta, were served with a notice of suspicion, UNN reports, citing the police of Ivano-Frankivsk region.
"As part of the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 2 of Article 296 (hooliganism committed by a group of persons), police identified the persons involved in the criminal offense," the statement said.
Together with the SBU and with the force support of the KORD, the police conducted several dozen searches in the Vorokhtyanska community. They seized cell phones from the suspects and other material evidence, which was sent for the necessary examinations.
"Investigators ... announced suspicions to four people who committed hooliganism.
The offenders were born in 1984, 1987, 1995 and 2004. They are all local residents with no previous convictions. The court will soon choose a measure of restraint for the suspects. The sanction of the article provides for punishment ranging from restraint of liberty for up to five years to imprisonment for up to four years," the statement said.
The investigation is ongoing. The Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Prosecutor's Office is providing procedural supervision in the case.
Context
The conflict between residents of Vorokhta village and military personnel of the Verkhovyna RTC and JFO occurred on July 4. As a result of the clash, a 47-year-old serviceman, who was on duty at the time, was struck several times in the face by unknown persons. They also used pepper spray, and the victim suffered a chemical burn.
