US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin held a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov, during which the parties discussed the current situation at the front and ways to strengthen Ukraine's defense capability.
Austin informed Umerov about the latest security assistance packages aimed at providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with the necessary equipment to counter the enemy. In addition, the ministers discussed preparations for the next meeting of the Contact Group on defense of Ukraine, which gathers international partners to coordinate military support for Kiev.
The parties stressed the importance of close cooperation between Ukraine and the United States.
