At least 15 regions of the Russian Federation have refused to hold a parade on the occasion of Victory Day, UNN reports with reference to ASTRA.
According to open data, ASTRA calculated that as of May 6, 2024, at least 15 regions of the Russian Federation announced the complete cancellation of Victory Parades:
• Belgorod region;
• Voronezh region;
• Kursk region;
• Krasnodar Krai;
• Leningrad region;
• Nizhny Novgorod region;
• Novgorod region;
• Pskov region;
• Ryazan region;
• Saratov region;
• Rostov region;
• Kaluga region;
• Orel region;
• Bryansk region;
• Chuvashia.
The ASTRA map separately highlights the regions of Ukraine occupied by Russia, as well as the annexed Crimea and Sevastopol. In Moscow, for the first time since 2007, no military equipment will appear on Red Square. In Saint Petersburg, the Victory Parade for the 81st anniversary will also take place without armored vehicles. Similar restrictions, internet blocking, and the cancellation of fireworks have been introduced in a number of other regions. The "Immortal Regiment" will be held in an online format in most Russian federal subjects.

Russian authorities began massively restricting Victory Day celebrations in 2022, following the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Prior to this, in modern Russian history, such restrictions were only introduced during the coronavirus pandemic.
