More than 200,000 unemployed Ukrainians have joined the Army of Recovery project, which provides financial support to people and restores infrastructure, UNN reports citing a report by the Government Portal.
Details
In the fall of 2022, Ukraine launched the Army of Recovery project to provide financial support to citizens and help restore infrastructure, housing, and civil defense facilities. To date, more than 200,000 referrals have been issued to temporarily unemployed Ukrainians who are ready to help rebuild the country. As you know, over UAH 1.6 billion in salaries have been paid so far.
It is worth noting that the project covers 19 regions of Ukraine, and the most active are the following:
- Kharkiv region - 32 thousand referrals;
- Donetsk region - 24 thousand referrals;
- Kyiv region - 23 thousand referrals;
- Chernihiv region - 22 thousand referrals;
- Poltava region - 22 thousand referrals.
Those involved in are offered various types of work, including assistance to those affected by the hostilities, as well as direct restoration of infrastructure and construction of facilities for the Armed Forces. For example, they are offered to unload, pack and deliver humanitarian aid, equip and strengthen checkpoints and fortifications, build civilian defense structures, etc. The scope of these works depends on the needs of a particular region.
Military commands and local administrations determine what needs to be done and then pass this information on to the employment service. The employment centers then contact those who are looking for work. To do this, participants need to sign a temporary employment contract, which pays 1.5 minimum wages, or about UAH 12,000 for a full month of work. However, some participants in the Army of Recovery project have already received offers from employers and have found permanent jobs.
