"An investment in a secure future": Baltic speakers jointly call on the U.S. Congress not to delay aid for Ukraine

The speakers of the Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian parliaments called on the U.S. Congress to approve a new military aid package for Ukraine, emphasizing that the support provided to Ukraine is an investment in a common secure future and is crucial at this critical time.

Speakers from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia have called on the US Congress to allocate a new military aid package for  Ukraine. This is stated in a joint statement of the Baltic states, which was distributed by the Latvian Saeima, UNN reports.

We believe that the Congress will make the right decision and approve the much-needed assistance package for Ukraine. Support for Ukraine is an investment in our common secure future

- Speaker of the Seimas Daiga Merinia emphasizes, along with Speaker of the Estonian Parliament Lauri Hussar and Speaker of the Lithuanian Seimas Viktoria Čmilite-Nielsen.

The letter emphasizes that Europe is taking historic steps to strengthen its defense capabilities, but it takes time - time that Ukraine does not have. That is why U.S. assistance is extremely important at this critical time.

With our joint assistance, we managed to stop the aggressor and liberate a significant part of the occupied territory of Ukraine. However, Russia's direct threats are relentless. Therefore, we welcome the United States' strong leadership and determination to support freedom and security in Europe as part of our joint efforts

The heads of parliaments also noted that the tendency to undermine the established order is sharply increasing in the world and Russia is trying to destabilize the situation by any means, including hybrid aggression.
