The Boko Haram group is suspected of involvement in an explosion in Nigeria that killed at least 16 civilians. UNN writes about this with reference to France24.
Details
According to police, a bomb exploded at a roadside market in Nigeria's Borno state, killing at least 16 people and injuring dozens. The government imposed a 24-hour curfew after the explosion, the second in recent weeks.
According to local media reports, the attack took place around 20:00 local time on Wednesday at a tea shop frequented mostly by locals.
Local police said that the bomb was an improvised explosive device that was planted in the cafe, and not a suicide attack. Police reported that 16 people were killed, but did not give an exact number of people who were injured and treated in hospitals across the state. The State Emergency Agency reported that about 24 people were seriously injured.

No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, but analysts and some local officials suspect the Islamic militant group Boko Haram, which has been waging an insurgency in Nigeria and neighboring countries in the Lake Chad region since 2009.
The activities of Boko Haram have caused a humanitarian catastrophe in Nigeria, Cameroon, Niger and Chad, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 35,000 people and displacement of 2.6 million over the past 15 years.
The groups want to establish an Islamic state in all four countries, but mainly in Nigeria, the West African oil giant with a population of more than 200 million people, divided almost equally between the predominantly Christian south and the predominantly Muslim north.
