SBU officers detained a 52-year-old man from Zhytomyr region back in August when he was trying to escape across the Dnipro River on the border with Belarus to get to Russia. It turned out that he had been recruited by the Kremlin's secret service and worked for them, creating channels for evaders, where he gave them detailed instructions on how to avoid mobilization.
This was reported by the SBU press service, UNN reports.
This man not only administered the existing channels, but also created new ones, where he actively offered routes for escape to Russia, bypassing control points. He even conducted reconnaissance on the border himself, identifying escape routes through forest trails or water bodies, and sent them to his clients on maps.
Later, he planned to join the FSB's information and psychological operations to discredit Ukrainian state institutions by telling lies on behalf of Ukrainians on live propaganda channels.
The SBU served him with a notice of suspicion of high treason under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, as his actions could harm the country's security during martial law. Now the man faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property. His actions are also classified under articles on obstructing the activities of the Armed Forces (Part 1 of Article 114-1) and illegal border crossing (Part 2 of Article 332).
The SBU and border guards jointly detained the offenderand the case has already been referred to court.
