Late in the evening of July 16, unidentified persons threw a grenade into the yard of the mayor of Bashtanka, Mykolaiv region. The explosion damaged the mayor's vehicle, but no one was injured. UNN reports this with reference to the regional police.
According to the mayor, in the evening he returned home by car and, without locking the gate, went to the house, and after a while heard the sound of an explosion in the yard.
The police seized components and fragments of an RGD-5 grenade from the scene, which were sent for expert examination.
Investigators have classified the incident under Part 4 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "Hooliganism" and are conducting an investigation. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years.
Police are currently establishing all the circumstances of the crime and the persons involved in its commission.
