An accident involving a car and a truck occurred in Haysyn, Vinnytsia region, killing three people and injuring four, the regional police reported on Saturday, UNN reports.

The accident happened on December 20 around midnight on the outskirts of the city.
According to preliminary information from the investigation, a 35-year-old driver of an Opel Zafira drove into oncoming traffic while making a U-turn and collided with a Volvo truck.
"Three passengers of the minivan died at the scene: two men aged 28 and 36, and a 42-year-old woman. The 35-year-old driver of the Opel and three other passengers (two 40-year-old women and a 41-year-old man) were hospitalized with injuries of varying severity. The 22-year-old truck driver, a resident of Volyn region, was not injured," the police said.
A police investigative team was working at the scene. The causes and circumstances of the accident are being established. Blood samples were taken from the drivers for toxicological examination.
The Investigation Department opened a criminal investigation into this fact under Part 3 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Such a crime is punishable by imprisonment for up to ten years with a three-year deprivation of the right to drive vehicles.
