In the Khmilnyk district of the Vinnytsia region, the case of a 45-year-old man accused of raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter has been sent to court. He faces up to 12 years in prison. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General, according to UNN.
Under the procedural guidance of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, the pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings regarding the rape of a 14-year-old girl by her stepfather (Part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) has been completed,
The case involves a family from the Khmilnyk district. The accused lived as one family with his common-law wife and her two children – a daughter and a younger son.
According to the investigation, between January and February 2024, the man raped his stepdaughter four times. He did this in the morning when the woman left for work and the younger child was asleep.
The man exerted psychological pressure on the victim. For example, he threatened to kick her out of the house or create unbearable living conditions for the family. Consequently, the girl remained silent for some time until she realized in March that she was pregnant.
The daughter told her mother everything, who immediately contacted law enforcement and medical professionals. The suspect was detained and taken into custody, where he remains at present.
With her voluntary consent and the consent of her mother, the girl underwent an artificial termination of pregnancy procedure.
Currently, the indictment, approved by the head of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office, Oleh Tkalenko, has been submitted to the court.
