Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will attend an informal EU summit in Cyprus on Thursday, confirmed European Council President António Costa to Politico, writes UNN.
Details
According to the publication, today's informal dinner within the framework of the EU summit in Cyprus was supposed to be dedicated to the war in the Middle East and the energy crisis. "But the unblocking of a 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine has once again put the bloc's support for Kyiv at the top of the agenda," the publication says.
Leaders are reportedly meeting this evening in Ayia Napa, a seaside town better known for its nightlife than political gatherings. Arrival is expected at 5:15 PM Brussels time, followed by an exchange of views with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at 6:30 PM and a working dinner at 7:15 PM, after which departure home is expected.
"Zelenskyy's personal presence at the meeting (and not via video link, as previously planned)" was confirmed to the publication by European Council President António Costa.
We will be delighted to personally welcome President Zelenskyy at this particularly important moment
