Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs called for Russia's frozen assets to be used to pay for the damage inflicted on Ukraine. He also called for stronger sanctions.

Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs emphasized the need to use frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine, reports UNN.

I believe that Russia needs to pay for these brutal attacks, and that we need to agree to use frozen Russian assets. Not EU citizens' money to pay this bill. The bill is very high. These are significant funds. Why should EU citizens pay this bill in full? It is the Russians… 200 billion is available to pay this bill

- Kulbergs said.

He added that using frozen Russian assets would make it possible to reduce "this burden for European countries."

The price of the war is extremely high, and we need to take this burden off our shoulders, and this is easy to do. We must not let Russia make money. Yet we are allowing it to earn funds with which they fuel military operations

- Kulbergs added.

According to him, there are sanctions against the Russian Federation, but they need to be strengthened.
