The head of the European Union's diplomacy, Josep Borrell, upon his arrival at the meeting of G7 foreign ministers has called for Patriot systems to be sent from the "barracks" where they are "just in case" to Ukraine, where the war is on, and hopes that the EU defense and foreign ministers will commit to providing more military assistance to Ukraine at the upcoming meeting in Luxembourg, UNN reports.

When asked whether the EU High Representative expects the United States to provide Ukraine with more Patriot systems, he said that "they should, but not only the United States.

We cannot rely on the United States alone. We have to take responsibility and stop saying: "Oh, yes, the United States will do it". We have to do it. We have Petriots, we have anti-missile systems. We need to take them out of our barracks, where they are "just in case" and send them to Ukraine, where the war is raging. I am sure we will do it, but it needs to be done quickly

- Borrell said.

When asked to clarify that Ukraine needs "six more Petriots" and whether he is sure that the EU will receive them today, Borrell said: "I hope that today - well, we are not going to make concrete decisions here - but in Luxembourg, the defense ministers and the foreign ministers should all come out of this meeting with concrete commitments.

When asked, with $60 billion in aid not making it through the U.S. Congress, whether "you really think you have enough to help Ukraine or you have to start thinking about a negotiated solution," Borrell replied: "Well, nothing will be enough, but everything is needed, so it's better than nothing.

"And of course I have to regret that the domestic policy of the United States delays support for Ukraine. I was in Washington and said: "Look, what is happening in Europe is important to you. It's important for everyone." So, this is the first step - [it is] welcome. [It's not enough, but I don't want to talk about what the United States is not doing. I am not responsible for US policy. I'm responsible for the European Union's policy," the EU diplomat said.
