The Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine continues to fight in court for the return of the Trade Unions Building, located on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv. Serhiy Byzov, head of the FPU, stated this in an interview, noting that after the building is returned, it will need to be restored, writes UNN.
Today, the state's position is to take the Trade Unions Building from fraudsters and return it to its owners. With this position, we are preparing for court, and in the near future, everything, as they say, is moving towards the finish line. We are confident that in the near future, we will bring the trade union movement home. This is a symbol of the trade union movement. This is a symbol of Maidan
The head of the Federation of Trade Unions noted that after the return, the Maidan Museum, created after the Revolution of Dignity, will remain in the building.
Today, we must be a single whole, a single nation. We are ready to work side-by-side with all organizations. This is what our country needs today. But overall, it should be the headquarters of trade unions. This is the foundation of foundations
At the same time, according to him, after the return of the Trade Unions Building, it will need to be restored.
We will still need to restore this building because those temporary managers, who probably do not know what economic activity is. Our pipes froze, we have insane debts. Because they did not look after this building. (...) We will still have to work to bring it (the building – ed.) back to the state it once was. So we will still have to work on this. I am confident that together with the trade union movement, we will be able to restore it
Recall
The Trade Unions Building was transferred to ARMA's management by court decision. This asset was under arrest in 2022 and 2023 as part of a case concerning the misappropriation of state property. In 2025, the arrest was lifted, but on June 3, 2025, the Pechersk District Court re-arrested this object.
The agency concluded a management agreement with the winner of an open competition – the consortium "Management Company "KAMparity".
According to a journalistic investigation, the consortium includes a company that may be connected to one of the previous beneficiaries of the asset. The publication also mentioned the name of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration — Minister of Justice of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna in the context of past family ties. She categorically denied any involvement in the possible scheme. After the scandal erupted, MPs demanded the resignation of the then head of ARMA, Olena Duma.
The inspection conducted by ARMA from August 20 to September 5, 2025, recorded violations of certain terms of the asset management agreement.
The Trade Unions Building is an administrative building that previously housed the Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine. During the Revolution of Dignity, it served as the Headquarters of the National Resistance. The building almost completely burned down in February 2014. It was restored by a private investor between 2016 and 2018.
