Stoltenberg welcomed Germany's significant military support for Ukraine, including advanced air defense systems, battle tanks and ammunition, and reaffirmed Ukraine's right to self-defense under the UN Charter, while allies provide long-range systems to help Ukraine defend itself.

In a discussion about the possible supply of German Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg referred to Ukraine's right to self-defense. He said this at a press conference on the occasion of the ceremony of raising the Swedish flag to mark the country's accession to NATO, UNN reports.

"Regarding the Taurus missiles. What I can say is, first of all, that Germany has been one of the NATO allies that has provided Ukraine with the most support, significant substantial military support from Germany to Ukraine: advanced air defense systems, IRIS-T, Patriot and others, battle tanks, Leopard battle tanks, significant amounts of ammunition, and a lot of maintenance and repair equipment to help Ukraine develop its own defense industry," Stoltenberg said.

Thus, according to him, Germany is indeed a leading country when it comes to military support for Ukraine.

"I also welcome the fact that several NATO countries are now also providing long-range systems. The United Kingdom is supplying Storm Shadow, cruise missiles, France is supplying similar cruise missiles, SCALP, and many allies have now joined a coalition to help Ukraine train pilots to prepare them to receive the F-16. So, the allies are also providing long-range systems to help Ukraine defend itself," he pointed out.

You have to remember what this is: this is a war of aggression by Russia against Ukraine and Ukraine has, enshrined in the UN Charter, the right to defend themselves and we have the right to help them to uphold the right for self defence. But I will not go into specific systems for specific Allies. I just welcome that Allies are doing more, including that Germany is providing significant support to Ukraine

- Stoltenberg said in response to a question that if we can all agree that Taurus missiles can make a big difference on the front, does he agree that Germany should deliver them as soon as possible.
