Ukraine and France are working on the possibility of launching renewable energy projects in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, writes UNN.
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Svitlana Hrynchuk, and the Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for Assistance and Reconstruction of Ukraine, Pierre Elbron, visited the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

The working group members reviewed and assessed the possibilities for investing in renewable energy in the exclusion zone.
In addition, they inspected the consequences of Russia's recent attack on the NSC Arch – a facility in the creation of which French companies and specialists were involved. French partners are considering providing assistance for the restoration of the Arch within the framework of the International Cooperation Account for Chernobyl.
Currently, active work is underway to assess the damage and develop a plan to restore the functionality of the Arch.

The ministry noted that the possibility of partnership with the French side was already discussed during Hrynchuk's meeting with Elbron in February this year. Then, the Special Envoy of the President of the French Republic for Assistance and Reconstruction of Ukraine emphasized that French companies had prepared an analysis and assessed the great potential in this direction.
