The Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine is developing systematic support for servicemen who are members of the trade union movement – from one-time payments of 6,500 hryvnias after injury, rehabilitation programs, prosthetics and further employment, to organizing recreation for the children of defenders. This was stated in an interview by FPU head Serhiy Byzov, writes UNN.
According to him, the trade union movement, in particular the All-Ukrainian Trade Union of Defenders of Ukraine, Athletes and Workers of Spheres, performs the function of social protection of military personnel, even despite gaps in legislation. Primary trade union organizations are being created within the All-Ukrainian Trade Union in military units, which defenders directly join.
If he (a serviceman who is a member of the trade union movement - ed.) received an injury, the trade union organization immediately pays 6,500 hryvnias as a one-time payment, plus they were involved in rehabilitation. And these programs are still active. They are consistently working
Another key area is prosthetics for military personnel, where a person goes through a full cycle from treatment to prosthetic fitting. Here, programs are implemented jointly with the Ministry of Social Policy and other partners.
The second component is the same prosthetics, when a serviceman gets in and, as it were, "turnkey," so that a person can be fitted with a prosthesis.
In parallel, trade unions are developing rehabilitation and return to civilian life programs. In particular, opportunities for retraining and employment of veterans are being created jointly with state bodies.
At the same time, trade unions also raise systemic problems related to direct service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, this refers to servicemen who have been removed from the staff and receive minimal payments. Byzov noted that trade unions are in direct contact with the command of various branches of the armed forces and immediately respond to specific requests from servicemen.
A separate area is assistance to veterans. According to the head of the FPU, in addition to prompt payments immediately after injury and rehabilitation support, trade unions also help with the employment of military personnel after completing their service.
If we understand that a person is being discharged... (we help - ed.) so that he immediately receives advanced training or retraining and can immediately go from here to get a job. This is together with the State Employment Center.
Trade unions also implement social initiatives for military families, including organizing recreation for children. "We also have children's camps for the children of servicemen. Today we are working very fruitfully," said the head of the Federation of Trade Unions.
He also emphasized that the institution of military trade unions should become an integral part of the social protection system in Ukraine.
